about zuppa

Sustainability is important to us, not as an endpoint, but as a process.

  • Almost all of our food ingredients are local and/or organic.
  • Whenever possible we buy from other vendors at the farmers' market.
  • Our disposable bowls and silverware are all compostable.
  • All food waste at our kitchen is composted as part of Portland's city program.

Once a month we pick a non-profit we think is doing good work and donate 10% of sales at the farmers' market to that group.  Here are some recent recipients.

September 2008 - Northwest resistance against genetic engineering

October 2008 - Portland fruit tree project

November 2008 - Growing gardens

April 2009 - Organic Consumers Association

May 2009  - Sisters of The Road

June 2009 - Slow Food Portland

JUly 2009 - BARK

August 2009 - Northwest resistance against genetic engineering

As we grow, we hope to implement more and more practices that lessen our environmental impact and have a positive effect on local communities and Oregon farmland.

Stay tuned for more horn tooting in the coming months..........
